Learn All About Justin Engstrom, QB Instructor

Justin Engstrom grew up in Scappoose, Oregon where he attended Scappoose High School. Justin was a two-sport athlete excelling in both football and basketball. As a highly recruited QB in the state of Oregon, Justin set a goal to play D-1 football. After his senior year, Justin accepted the invitation to walk on and compete at Oregon State University in 2007. After a redshirt season, Justin achieved his next athletic goal, which was to letter in the Pac-10. It was a humbling experience to play in the Pac-10 but he was in pursuit of achieving another goal, earning a football scholarship. When this goal was not attained at OSU, Justin pursued other collegiate opportunities where he would have a chance to play right away. A scholarship and opportunity to continue playing QB was offered by Portland State University in the summer of 2009. By the end of his first season at PSU Justin was the starting QB in the run and shoot offense. During his final two seasons at PSU Justin had the opportunity to learn a third collegiate offense when a new coaching staff brought in the pistol offense. After lettering for three seasons and finishing his career at PSU, Justin earned Big Sky All Academic honors his senior year.
Justin then joined the coaching staff at PSU and went on to coach for four seasons working with the quarterbacks and wide receivers. He gained experience running PSU youth and high school football camps, evaluating recruits, and managing high school recruiting combines. While on the coaching staff Justin also had responsibilities working as Assistant Director of Football Operations. During his time on the staff, Justin also earned his Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership and Policy at PSU.

Justin currently works for a local non-profit mental health organization, Family Solutions. In this role he works with kids and teenagers as an Agency Affiliated Counselor under the title of Family Support Specialist. This community based work puts Justin in both the Evergreen and Vancouver School District to provide comprehensive mental health services.
