Lavasier Tuinei is a Former Oregon Duck player from 2009-2012 and Rose Bowl MVP. Since a young boy his life has been surrounded by the excitement of football. He has been blessed to have his father and uncles play at the D-1 Level and in the NFL. His father, Van Tuinei, was a Defensive End for the University of Arizona, furthering his career in the NFL with San Diego Chargers, Indiana Colts, and Chicago Bears. Same career path goes for his uncles, Tom and Mark Tuinei. He believes that football has made an impact in his life and has taught him self-discipline, self-growth/motivation, and how to win.
After playing football for many years he decided to take the coaching path. The coaching path has shown him he can still be a part of the game to feed his soul and an opportunity to give back to young adults that he can mentor and forever leave a lasting impression – just like his coaches did for him. He currently coaches at Churchill High School as the Tight End/DB assistant coach and has helped successfully bring his team to a 12-1 season (this is a first since 1977) and a 5A State Championship.
Along with high school coaching, Coach Tuinei has been training players for the last 7 years across the country in Indiana, California, Washington, Texas, Oregon, Hawaii and Florida. Coach Tuinei has just started his own business called, MVP Speed Training. Although he is based out of Eugene, he his is more than willing to make travels up to Portland to train kids of all ages.
Coach Tuinei is happily in a relationship with his girlfriend, Suzanne McCormick. They reside in Eugene and she is just as dedicated as Coach Tuinei is in helping our youth.
